14th of July seen through an open window by Henri Matisse 1920

The Post Impressionist painter Henri Matisse (1898 - 1954)
spend a summer in Etretat where he created numerous paintings
1920 summer, Matisse was in Etretat with his wife and daughter.
Marguerite Matisse, his daughter was recovering from an operation.
The family stayed at a Hotel facing the sea.

Barriers of time have made it impossible for us to meet Henri Matisse.
But there is a little connection with him.
Henri Matisse was the father in law of
Maria Gajetana (Tana) Matisse von Spretti (1943 -2001)
Tana who knew Cremerie de Paris during the Internet cafe years loved Etretat.
She saw our Phone Book of the World (editor of Visit Etretat.com) come alive.

Tana who was much younger than her husband Pierre Matisse
lived in Paris on avenue Montaigne.
